Top 10 Things to do at Disney World for a Star Wars Fan

Our family finally saw The Last Jedi yesterday evening.  No spoilers, but WOW!  We were impressed, and it renewed our Star Wars Fan Status.  Here is a top ten list of ways to immerse yourself in a Galaxy Far, Far Away while visiting Orlando.  All of the Star Wars attractions are located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park.

11.  Ride Star Tours, multiple times. This is a given.  This is a simulator style ride that gives you the sensation that you’re aboard a vehicle working to save the galaxy.  The best part is that the storyline changes with each ride!  There are over 60 combinations of rides you can experience, so ride again and again.  Height Requirement 40”, 3D attraction

22.  Trials of the Temple – Jedi Training Academy.  Young Padawans have the opportunity to battle Darth Vader or another First Order villain in the interactive show multiple times a day.  Sign ups happen as soon as the park opens near Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular.  Sign up early to guarantee a spot.  Ages 4 – 12.

33. March of the First Order – Several times a day, Captain Phasma and the First Order make sure everyone knows who is in charge as they march through the streets to the main plaza. Check your times guide for details.  This is very short.

44. Meet Kylo Ren – This is one scary dude!  Take the time to meet Kylo Ren and stand up to his unwavering stare.  He’s huge!  Disney Visa holders can gain exclusive access to this character meet and greet with little to no wait.

55.  Meet BB-8 – Everyone loves this droid!  Stop by for a picture with BB-8 and congratulate him on his impeccable driving skills.

66. Meet Chewbacca – Don’t forget the Wookie!  Get a wookie hug and grab a selfie with Chewbacca.

7. 7 Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular – Offered each evening, watch this projection and fireworks show on the Chinese Theater and surrounding buildings.  Though you can see parts of the show from anywhere on the main drag, try to be centrally located in front of the popcorn stand to not miss any of the amazing special effects.  This is one show you don’t want to miss! Seasonally, this changes to a holiday show that is non-Star Wars.  Check times guide for details.

8.       Eat a cupcake at Backlot Express – Darth Vader or BB-8, though Darth Vader is peanut butter and chocolate – the best cupcake I’ve ever had. BB-8’s cupcake is covered in colorful chocolate rocks and is vanilla cake.

9.       Star Wars Dessert Party – If you’re looking for  a VIP experience, this is it!  Desserts fit for a Jedi, themed drinks (including alcoholic beverages), stormtroopers, and a special gift are all topped off by reserved viewing for the evening Star Wars show.  Additional cost.

10.   Star Wars Launch Bay - Check out the games and Souvenirs near the trading post.  Sometimes you’ll even see the Jawas attempting to trade Disney guests for some goods.  Please note-  they are limited in what they can take.  No magic bands or cash – they’re looking for more basic goods like straw wrappers or other trinkets.

ºoº Expert Tip!  Stop and get a photo on the star speeder near Star Tours, and build a light saber like your favorite character inside of the gift shop.  All things Star Wars, all the time. ºoº

May the Force Be With You!
